Retox

Retox - YPLL - Cover

YPLL

(2013, Epitaph Recordings) USA, California.

New album by Retox with a terrific sound ! I think they really found themselves here.

The rhythmic parts are fast, precise and powerful and I love the delays in I’ve Had It Up Until Here, I’m Going To Prison.

I love Mike Crain’s introduction on Soviet Reunion (amazing part at 2:31) and the main riff remains in head.

Justin’s fast flow on Biological Process Of Politics is impressive !

They made a videoclip for Mature Science with an efficient chorus (I love the final scream haha).

I love a lot guitars’ parts in Congratulations, You Are Good Enough.

A very good album, with a beautiful artwork, as usual.

You’ll find a documentary on Retox here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qH9MeHK3hEw. Retox’s members share about their relationship with music : it is sincere and interesting. Good quality picture and editing, well-done !

Many good songs on that album, it is hard to make a selection !

Ugly Animals

(2011, Ipecac) USA, California.

I saw Retox live for the first time the 21st of November 2011 at la Mécanique Ondulatoire, Paris : Their show was what I was expecting : a very, very powerful and spathic show, as you can see on that amazing video for Boredom is Counter-Revolutionaryhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83KOneod968

Welcome to Brian Evans playing drums instead of Gabe : A powerful and fast drummer as well !

My favorite song on that record is Thirty Cents Shy Of A Quarter and its terrific videoclip : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCzsqncj8Zc

I love the part at 0:20 in Ten Pounds Of Shit In A Five Pound Bag.

Stick A Fork In It and A Bastard On Father’s Day are fast and brutal songs. Spathic music.

Some good songs.

Retox 7″

(2011, Three One G) USA, California.

I just received my Retox 7″, new band with Justin and Gabe from The Locust.

In retox, there are too Mike Crain (from the awesome Festival Of Dead Deer, reviewed soon) and Thor Didsay.

What a wonderful picture disc ! I never saw an Ep like that : http://threeoneg.com/31G/wp-content/uploads/SL7400281-600×372.jpg

I started to like Retox with the song I Rub The Wrong Way. I love the way that MXR’s Carbon copy delays are used, and the cow falling videoclip totally matches with the music : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANFqKte5qm8

The rhythmic part in Ready To Spit is unsane.

I love the part at 0:51 in Put Some Hair On It.

I really like to the slidy guitar riff in Rusty Sheriff’s Badge.

I really appreciate too the declaimed and powerful vocals in Piss Elegant.

Great EP, I can’t wait for their first LP.
